The Academy offers continuing education courses (CECs) for all
ophthalmic dispensers who wish to:
• develop and improve their technical knowledge;
• keep abreast of technological advances in the eyecare field;
• earn continuing ed credits for ABO and/or NCLE recertification;
and/or
• obtain the continuing education credits required in some states.
 

 Each course comes with instructions, study text, test questions and
an answer sheet (which includes an evaluation form that must be
completed to obtain ABO or NCLE CE credit).
All Academy courses are approved by the ABO and/or NCLE for CE credits.

Why Home Study?

   Can't afford to be away from work? Want to avoid travel expenses,
such as gas, airfare, meals, hotel? Do you prefer to learn at your own
pace, when you choose? Study at home, at 10 pm or 3 am or Saturday
afternoons, whenever you choose — and still earn the CE credits you
need!

Academy Continuing Education Course Policies

CECs are not transferable. They are issued to the person who purchased
them, whose name is printed on the test answer sheet. CECs may not be
returned for merchandise credits or refunds.
   A passing grade is 70%. After grading by the Academy, your test
score will be sent to you, along with ABO or NCLE credit certificates if
you passed. Please note: You must send these certificates to the
ABO/NCLE for credits.
   You will be notified in writing if you fail a CEC. If your state
allows the test to be retaken, you may purchase a second, different test
for $15. If you wish, a second copy of the course will be sent to you.
Only one "retake" is allowed per CEC. For states that do not allow a
test to be retaken, you may purchase another CEC of equal credits at a
cost of $15.
   All CECs must be completed within one year of the original order
date to obtain ABO or NCLE credit. You cannot reuse/retake the same
course within three years from the date the credits are issued.
