Dear Colleague:

You are cordially invited to join the National Academy of Opticianry. The Academy is the only national, not-for-profit organization solely dedicated to providing educational and training opportunities for all opticians.

Fellow membership is available to anyone who is certified by the ABO (American Board of Opticianry) and/or NCLE (National Contact Lens Examiners), or who holds a valid state opticianry license. (If you do not meet any of these criteria, you may join as an Associate member.)

Fellow members of the Academy are entitled to use the designation of FNAO (Fellow of the National Academy of Opticianry) after their names, while Associate members may use the designation NAO to show their affiliation with the Academy. In addition, Fellows of the Academy are offered the use of the Academy logo on business materials. Associate members who become state licensed and/or ABO certified can be transferred to Fellow members (at no additional charge).

Dues are only $75 per fiscal year (June 1 through May 31). Academy members receive substantial discounts on: seminars, review courses, reference manuals, and over 60 home study and online continuing education courses. (ABO and/or NCLE approved for CE credits). You will receive quarterly issues of the Academy Newsletter to keep you abreast of the latest in the opticianry field and the Academy. In addition, a handsome membership certificate will be sent to you along with your member package providing full details about your “members only” benefits.
